National Magazine Project

National Magazine Project

The background

A large national publishing company charged us with the task of improving their working practices through a feasibility study.

The challenge

The company was using a large number of spreadsheets and manual ledgers to track paper stock levels, to carry out forecasting and generate paper usage statistics. Most of the spreadsheets involved in these processes were not linked, creating a situation that was very difficult to manage and led to costly purchasing decisions.

The response

The solution that we provided consolidated all the information into a manageable form, allowing decisions to be made more efficiently. Stock levels were reduced and purchasing procedures refined.

The results

The savings made by the integration of information and the optimisation of paper purchasing meant that the total capital outlay for the project was recovered within just 4 months of implementation.
