Regenerate Pennine Lancashire

Regenerate Pennine Lancashire

The background

Regenerate Pennine Lancashire is an economic development company owned by Lancashire County Council and the borough councils in Pennine Lancashire: Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle and Rossendale.

Regenerate work directly with local businesses to help them grow and compete on a national and international level, offering professional guidance, funding, business events and other beneficial services. They support many people, including those who want to start up a new enterprise or business, adopt new technology within their business and bring new products to the market. Regenerate also assist companies who want to expand their premises or relocate to East Lancashire.

After a successful bid for the Regional Growth Fund (RGF), Regenerate will offer the Accelerating Business Growth in Lancashire (ABG) scheme. This scheme is designed to meet the needs of local advanced manufacturing SMEs by offering them capital investment for expansion projects, including premises, plant and machinery. Participating companies are also expected to offer graduate internships, apprenticeships or adopt carbon and energy saving targets.

The challenge

Regenerate required that the entire application process from initial “Expression of Interest” (E.O.I.) form through to the full application form was completed on-line and that it would be fully integrated with Evolutive. The standard functionality of Evolutive would then be utilised to monitor, manage and record all outputs for the entire scheme.

Future outputs would also be recorded on-line and updated into Evolutive for analysis.

The response

Alcium developed the two on-line forms to the specification of Regenerate and ensured that each element of the form related back to the relevant fields in Evolutive. The full application form consists of 11 sections, with the ability for the applicant to record full details of their proposal including cost breakdowns, projected benefits, risk analysis and the facility to attach a number of documents in support of their application.

The results

Alcium’s Kevin Grimshaw says that “the complexity of this project, with the finite detail and precise nature of the information that needs to be recorded and monitored, is a testament to the flexibility and scalability of the Evolutive system. Having successfully integrated the ABG scheme fully within Evolutive, we would be surprised to find any funding program that Evolutive could not handle”.
