Businesses are getting a virtual helping hand in their start-up or re-location needs.

Bury Council and the nine other Greater Manchester authorities in MIDAS, the investment agency for Manchester, have teamed up to launch an internet listings guide to available premises across the conurbation.

Adrian Frost, the council’s Investment and Partnership Manager, said, “For many years we have produced a printed property bulletin listing industrial, commercial and office property which is available in the borough.

“But now all enquirers can get access to more up-to-date, more detailed information and search all of Greater Manchester using an online property database.

“This is a significant step for the expanded partnership of ten local authorities that make up MIDAS, and should considerably improve the opportunity for businesses to find new premises easily.”

The paper version of the listings will no longer be available. Instead, anyone seeking a new home for their emerging or expanding business can visit www.investinmanchester.com and click on the red property search button.

Visitors will be asked to register but this will allow them to be kept up-to-date about newly-listed property without having to search the list regularly.

Other facilities in later versions will allow property owners and agents to update their listings online ensuring that the information is as up to date as it possibly can be.

Councillor Steve Perkins, the council’s Executive Member for Learning, Skills and Employment, said, “This is an any time, any place, any where system which will allow businesses across the world to instantly access information about investment opportunities in Bury and neighbouring boroughs.

“We hope it will help the area attract new employment from a wider, more exciting range of businesses such as those in knowledge economy, and provide quicker information for businesses who always want the information ‘yesterday’."

Anyone who does not have internet access can search the database for free at the council’s Planning and Economic Development Reception, Second Floor, Craig House, Bury or at their local library.

Anyone seeking more information can contact Adrian Frost on 0161 253 5897 or via a.frost@bury.gov.uk.
